Scripture

"I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me" - Galatians 2:20

by Dawson Elliott.

Returning from my recent travel to Europe, I am again reminded of the mystery and majesty of God and the diversity of our world. Travelling is delightfully educational in the sense that it opens one up to new or renewed understandings of the world we live in. The more I travel, the more I realise my ‘fraction’ in a world of plus/minus 7 billion people. However, my realisation, does not make me feel insignificant, rather it compels me to reiterate the significance of God in my life. Jesus makes all the difference…As our redeemer, He looks at our ‘fraction’ of the world’s populace and endorses it as purposeful and contributory to making Him known wherever he plants us. Jesus, surely is the Wisdom of God. It is good to know that in Him we live and move and have our being [livingness] -Acts 17:28.

A.W. Tozer wrote these words about God’s wisdom in our lives: “To believe actively that our Heavenly Father constantly spreads around us providential circumstances that work for our present good and our everlasting well-being brings to the soul a veritable benediction. Most of us go through life praying a little, planning a little, jockeying for position, hoping but never being quite certain of anything, and always secretly afraid that we will miss the way. This is a tragic waste of truth and never gives rest to the heart. There is a better way. It is to repudiate our own wisdom and take instead the infinite wisdom of God. God has charged Himself with full responsibility for our eternal happiness and stands ready to take over the management of our lives the moment we turn in faith to Him” (A.W. Tozer, The Knowledge of the Holy, p. 63).

In a world of opinions and ‘jumping to conclusions’ – it is good to know that God’s ways and thoughts are higher than ours-[always] (Isaiah 55:9) – therefore I boast in nothing else but “in Christ” – for Christ is my ‘highness’. Christ is the wisdom of God!

Be encouraged today to draw hope from Jesus. He cares. He understands. He loves us with an everlasting love. As we approach this Christmas, may we adore Jesus through the power of the Spirit exclusively as the Wisdom of God.
